Online vs. in-person interior design: which fits your project?

Online design can suit projects where you can share clear room information and collaborate remotely. On-site involvement matters when a project needs physical inspection, field verification or local coordination. Decide from the scope, not just the price.

When remote design is a good starting point

A room refresh, furniture layout or coordinated finish direction can be well suited to remote collaboration when the designer has enough reliable information. You can share what stays, review concepts and refine selections without scheduling a site visit for every discussion.

The trade-off is that someone still needs to provide accurate room information. If you cannot document the space or do not want to manage measurements and local implementation, discuss additional support before choosing a service.

When you need local expertise

Physical inspection, complex existing conditions, structural changes and local construction coordination may call for on-site professionals. A remote rendering cannot establish whether a wall is load-bearing, confirm hidden services or replace required engineering.

In-person design is not automatically an all-inclusive construction service either. Confirm who measures, who specifies, who supervises and which specialists are responsible. Scope varies between providers.

Compare the scope before comparing the price

Ask for a list of deliverables, revision rounds, exclusions and responsibilities. A furniture plan is different from a photorealistic rendering, and neither is the same as a stamped construction document. Compare like-for-like services and include furniture, materials and contractor costs in a separate budget.

Our process starts with your uploads and a designer inspection. Starting package prices are published, but your confirmed quote comes before paid design work. On-site supervision, structural engineering and permit-ready drawings are not included.
